anyone out there have progressive car insurance and been in an accident where it was your fault?
I have progressive insurance and recently got into an accident. It was my fault, thankfully everyone was okay. Anyway I was wondering how anyone's claim process went. The progressive agent handeling my claim is nice and she called me the day i filed the claim, she asked me where I was going to get my car fixed and I told her. She said that the place I was getting it fixed was on their list of reapir shops and called them on three way to set up an appointment. What I want to know is , will they write a check to me or the repair shop? How did it work with you?

- Being a former Progressive adjuster I can tell you that the check will be made out to the body shop since it is also their network shop. The repairs will be guaranteed for the lifetime that you own the vehicle. A network adjuster from Progressive will keep you updated on the repairs on a frequent basis. The adjuster will also review the estimate with you and explain the repair process (duration of repairs, parts to be used - used, aftermarket, or oem) If you have rental coverage you can receive a rental for 30 days (depending on your policy coverage).
- Be prepared! They are the "typical" insurance carrier that's looking out for their wallet and not your losses! I've been dealing with them over an accident I had in which the other driver was at fault. I'm not at all impressed and intend to change companies at renewal time! For a detailed description of their claims policy go to www.ripoffreport.com, open a free account, type in Progressive in the search box, and you will be taken to all the complaints from other customers that have dealt with them. Just keep in mind ALL insurance companies are doing the same thing because we have allowed them the privilage of dictating legislative decisions that our elected officals are supposed to be providing. Instead, they are just busy collecting their "kick back" checks and have no time for legislative duties! How do you think they finance their election campaigns????????
- I currently have a claim for an at fault accident with progressive, they have been very prompt and courteous. My car was taken to the authorized shop, the check was written out to them, but by my choice. Within a few days they settled the property damage claim. They also replaced my infant car seat within a few days. I have no problems with progressive so far. Also I have only been with them for a month and they have not given me any trouble.
- Progressive is honestly a great company to work with for claims (no, I don't work there--but their business model is a copy of my co's, haha). You reserve the right to use the body shop of your choice for your repairs. If you have chosen a contracted shop that does business with Progressive they will pay the body shop direct and your deductible will be due to the body shop when you pick up your car. If you take it elsewhere, you are only allowed a check written directly to you if the vehicle is no longer financed. If your vehicle is financed, the lienholder is part-owner on the car and to protect their interest Progressive will only issue a two-party check made out to you and your body shop, jointly. You sign it and hand it to the body shop along with your deductible. Makes sense?
