car insurance quotes?

I am going to start calling around for car insurance quotes to make sure we are getting the best deal. How far back on my driving record do i have to provide them?

  1. They will look up your driving record up them selfs its all in your records. They usally go back three years but some go back further then that. You dont have to provide that info they will see for them selfs. Only thing they will want is your vin on your car they will give you a quote from there.
  2. For automobile insurance the obvious way to get a fantastic rate is do a policy comparison on auto policies. Make sure that you choose similar options with the same deductibles, auto model, location, etc so that all things are a good comparison. What I usually recommend is an internet comparison quote at http://www.lowratetoday.com since they have top name insurers and can give multiple quotes on auto insurance polices.
  3. the only things that matter are things that are 3 years old. some insurance companies will look back 5 years. but if you have any ridiculous things on your driving record (ie: 3 totaled cars in 2 years) then they probably won't write you an auto policy. i would also check with geico. geico will sign anyone! GOOD LUCK!
  4. You could do an online insurance qoute... I've read it in this website. http://www.helpfulautoinsurance.com/Save+Money+By+Getting+An+Auto+Insurance+Quote+Online.18304.htm
  5. it used to be 3 years and some still only go 3 but most companies are going back 5 yrs now. PLEASE stay away from the online "do it yourself" policies. unless you are REALLY familiar with insurance it can get you into a bind. a lot of people set up their policies online and don't realize that they don't have the right coverages they need. they also don't realize when getting a quote online no reports are run until the policy is issued. so a lot of times the quote comes in low and the actual policy is a lot higher. call an independent agent and get some quotes. having a local agent only works for you. you will always have an actual person locally to help you and you will always be able to talk to the same person who is familiar with your policy.
  6. if you are 50 and older the aarp has auto insurance through the Hartford, and you need to be an aarp member,my spouse says it is cheaper.
