Auto and Car Insurance

Car Insurance?

i live in queens, ny just got my drivers license 2 years ago at age 39. I've looked at car insurance and the rates are so high - one company gave me a quote of over $1000 a month, this was for a used car not even new. I looked at older car models and the insurance payments would actually exceed the cost of the car. does anyone have any suggestions besides moving out of new york state?

  1. If you live in Queens, why do you even need a car? But that quote sounds a bit high. Are you sure it's not per year?
  2. Take the subway, or buy a really cheap car and only get liability instead of full coverage.
  3. DONT look online, GO to a State Farm office. Here`s your Man! http://www.statefarm.com/apps/agentLoc/AgentInformation.asp?na=US&st=32&ofc=2089 For me, TWO cars, zero deductible comp and a Scooter for $83 a month, Portland Oregon! oh, rates Do go down as time goes on....
  4. Go to Progressive.com and a bunch of other places, many of them now give competitor's rates to save you some time. But it's amazingly expensive to insure a car in NYC -- ANY of the boroughs. It doesn't help of course that you're a young driver -- I should say, an inexperienced driver! I'm in South Florida with a seven-year-old car, my rates are about $75 a month (which is higher than I've paid before) because I've been driving 30 years now with no accidents. Your rates will come down... when you're 69! Sorry, couldn't resist.
  5. Consider an older vehicle that you can 'walk away from`, and 'liability only` insurance. Part of the problem might be 'new driver` status. Ask if you can get credit for a defensive driver course. $1000 /Mo. Sounds excessive even for N.Y.C. Is there something you're not telling us? Accident? Disability?
  6. Head to http://www.auto-insurance-knowledge.com/24-hor-insurance-quote-auto.html This will compare all companies in Queens and give you quotes of the companies that are the cheapest Hope that helps
  7. fill in a form here http://gsx1.com/InsuranceComparison.html and get quotes from lots of different insurers. You are bound to find something cheap as they are all fighting to get your business. If it helps please remember me, drive safe..
  8. THAT MUST BE FOR A YEAR OR THEY ARE TRYING TO GET YOU TO PAY THEIR MONTHLY HUMMER PAYMENT. IF IT IS FOR JUST ONE MONTH THEN YOU NEED TO LOOK ELSEWHERE QUICK.
