Auto and Car Insurance

Car insurance?

HI there, I have been without car insurance for about three years, I used to have continuous coverage but sold my car and used one of my girlfriends cars since then. But now I am going to buy / or finance another car. Will I face some sort of penalty, or increased insurance rates for not being insured these past few years, even though my driving record is immaculate and I am almost 30 and besides I had no car? Thank you.

  1. No there will be no penalty. But you will start out with higher rates then someone who has had the same carrier for 3 or more years. and.. (here comes the soapbox).. consider yourself REALLY lucky (we won't comment on the wisdom aspect). A SINGLE accident could have ruined you and/or your girlfirend's financial future for a LONG time. And that doesn't me YOU being at fault.. just a single accident period. ok.. sermon over.. just keep that in mind next time you are tempted to be without it. .
  2. you will most likely pay top dollar for your premium until you prove that you are a responsible client
  3. More than likely you will not qualify for the best rates the insurance company can give. In order to qualify for the best rates you must have 6 months of continuous liability insurance without a lapse in coverage. If you have a good driving record the rates should not be too bad for you though. What state do you live in?
