  1. You can get your own car,and insure it through your mothers insurance,it would hike her premium up though, and she wouldn't be best pleased if you had a crash. The down side to that is,you will not be building up any no claims bonus of your own,so when you got to 25 when it gets cheaper, you would be starting from scratch.
  2. In the USA at least (I assume you are not in the usa, based on your use of the word "Mum" *L*) your parents can add you to their policy until you are a certain age. It is much cheaper than getting your own policy, but will still be pricey because you are just pretty much screwed until you get to be in your 20's. You just get screwed a bit LESS if you are on your parents' policy. Generally when you are added to a policy like that, you are covered to drive in ANY of the cars owned by the family and covered on that same policy. It's very common in the USA for kids to be covered on their parents' policy until they are 18 or until they are not going to school full time (college included, usually). I would also suggest going to some of the insurance quote websites and just looking at the FAQ pages, as well as potentially getting a few quotes just to see what you can do on your own policy. If your parents' don't mind adding you to their policy, they can run the numbers also and see how much you will be paying them to be on their policy. Good luck! Travel well and safely!
  3. It does depend on your age, which insurer you go with and what car you have. Usually if you under about 25 then the insurance premium is usually quite high especially if you have only just passed your test. You can go as a named driver and be insured on somebody elses car - but you can only drive that car with their permission. Hope this helps and good luck
  4. So, people still have insurance these days? That is soooooooo overrated....
  5. It is always worth shopping round on the internet first to see how much your own insurance would be. Just remember to read ALL the terms and conditions, and ALL the assumptions, as if you make a mistake or don't read something and it makes your policy invalid, it is tough luck, so be careful. It is cheaper to have yourself added onto someone else's policy but will not build up no claims discount. It is always worth getting your own, as building your own ncd early will benefit you, as when you get to to 21 your premiums will plummet. Tesco over the phone quote allows you to earn 2 years ncd on your first year if you don't claim, they are quite cheap as well. might be worth a look for you.
  6. Hi Angel, You can get insurance and make monthly payments that would be the easiest way to go. Lol A Friend. poppy1
  7. (Please tidy up your English) If you wish to drive someone else's car you can ask them to be a named driver on their policy. This means that you can only drive their car (with their permission). It would be a courtesy to pay them the cost of adding you onto their policy. You can't take out an insurance policy on someone else's vehicle. If you have your own car then you MUST take out an insurance policy in your own name. It is very unlikely that you will be able to drive someone else's car on your own policy as I assume you are under 25.
  8. for Usa insurance, try this, it's one form to get back plenty of competitive quotes http://insurance.moneysavecenter.com/
