Auto and Car Insurance

Does it cost to cancel auto insurance?

I have state farm insurance and I was wondering if there was a fee for canceling the insurance. Like with cell phones for example.

  1. It shouldn't. And I think they send you back the difference if you paid ahead.
  2. you will only be charged up to the day you actually cancel your policy. be careful, you don't want to not be covered... losing your license is the easy part if you get caught.
  3. Sort of. Most states, but not all, allow an insurance company to charge a "short rate" penalty - usually about a month's premium - for cancelling the policy before the term is up. Some states ALSO allow a company to ALSO charge a cancellation fee - ususally $50. You'll have to call your agent, and ask them what State Farm does in your state.
  4. NO
