Auto and Car Insurance

Can I dispute my credit card charge?

Back in January 2008. I got into a car accident and my car was total lost. I do not have my car any more. Today I found out my auto insurance company automatic charged my credit card on a new auto insurance policy. My credit card was charged on 3-28-2008. The policy takes in effect on 4-6-2008. Do I call my credit card company and dispute the charge and have the charges taken off ? or Do I call my auto insurance company to cancel the policy ? and then get charged for a cancellation fee of $50 ? The credit card charge is $300. My auto insurance is Esurance.com It's a Bank of America credit card. Help me please. Thanks

  1. you can stop payment on the charge, and then call the insurance agency to cancel the policy.
  2. call bank of america to drop charge. call esurance (this must be a 2nd call-you called once car was total) again.
  3. It was your responsibility to cancel your insurance. Since you didn't you need to call the insurance company & do it now. You may have to pay the $50.00. The insurance company will have to credit your credit card. I would think your insurance company would have been aware that you had the wreck though-? If so why didn't they just cancel then? I would call them right away. Good luck.
  4. 1. Notify the insurance company in writing and request a credit back. 2. Notify your credit card company that is in an erroneous charge.
  5. do you have any car? if yes, then you still need that policy and the new car should be listed on the policy - call the insurance company if you no longer have any car or have switched insurance companies
  6. I suggest you do both... Then remember not to use Esurance again. I've never heard of a company that charges a cancellation fee. And I've gone through a lot in my years.
