Can I dispute my credit card charge?
Back in January 2008. I got into a car accident and my car was total lost. I do not have my car any more. Today I found out my auto insurance company automatic charged my credit card on a new auto insurance policy. My credit card was charged on 3-28-2008. The policy takes in effect on 4-6-2008. Do I call my credit card company and dispute the charge and have the charges taken off ? or Do I call my auto insurance company to cancel the policy ? and then get charged for a cancellation fee of $50 ? The credit card charge is $300. My auto insurance is Esurance.com It's a Bank of America credit card. Help me please. Thanks

- you can stop payment on the charge, and then call the insurance agency to cancel the policy.
- call bank of america to drop charge. call esurance (this must be a 2nd call-you called once car was total) again.
- It was your responsibility to cancel your insurance. Since you didn't you need to call the insurance company & do it now. You may have to pay the $50.00. The insurance company will have to credit your credit card. I would think your insurance company would have been aware that you had the wreck though-? If so why didn't they just cancel then? I would call them right away. Good luck.
- 1. Notify the insurance company in writing and request a credit back. 2. Notify your credit card company that is in an erroneous charge.
- do you have any car? if yes, then you still need that policy and the new car should be listed on the policy - call the insurance company if you no longer have any car or have switched insurance companies
- I suggest you do both... Then remember not to use Esurance again. I've never heard of a company that charges a cancellation fee. And I've gone through a lot in my years.
