Can I switch insurance companies???
My husband and I are stationed in Germany and have auto insurance with AIG Europe. He was in an accident last week and we are still in the process of getting the deductable paid to get the truck fixed. I called around today and got a cheaper premium quote from a different insurance company. I am wondering if I can switch to this less expensive company for insurance and still have my current insurance company fix the truck since we were insured with them at the time of the accident.

- maybe, wait till you're paid
- Of course you can. The money you are being paid is based on the date you were covered with them. Make sure the the coverage is identical or better to what you currently have
- Yes, You can switch companies. AIG will pay for the accident as they were providing coverage at the time of the accident. Your new company will not fix the truck or get involved since they were not covering you at the thime.
- Yes, you are allow to drop insurance. Just make sure that you sent your insurance a written statement and also phone them of letting them know also. Once you have cancal the insurance, then you can join another insurance company. www.progressive.com
- Now that is really cheesy, isn't it? Make a claim, get it paid, then bugger off to another company? Just because you can do it doesn't mean you should, especially if you are being treated fairly by your present insurer. You end up with a bad reputation with the companies. Take it from me I am a licenced insurance broker.
- You can switch at anytime and as for the accident it happened under your current insurance policy and then are responsible for any and all damages that occurred.
