Progressive Insurance - What is your experience w/ this company - Auto & Home?

We are thinking of switching to Progressive (to save big bucks), and I am wondering how this company behaves when you have an at-fault accident, or a claim? Do they dump you? Do they bump your rates a lot? I've heard they are great to deal with, but what about the aftermath?

1. I personally did not like this co. All I can say is if you decide to change to another co you will still have to pay the remaining balace that is due on the acct. If you dont they will report you to credit agancy. I switched to another co. and was charges 600.00 fee.
2. I had an accident 6 years ago , my fault, (no damage to other vehichle-Delivery truck), and did 5 grand damage to my vehichle, had a check and as getting it repaired in 2 days, assessed vehichle damage claim same day, the wreck only bumped up my insurance $5 a month, been with them 15 years and had no problems,,
3. I really believe this all depends on where you are. I wrote for Progressive in SD and never had a problem or complaint from an insured. I now write in NC and all I have is complaints about there service and handeling of claims. I have body shops in my area that refuse to do any claim work with them. Thats a HUGE red flag.
