Geico or Progressive Insurance Auto Insurance?

1. I've used both and I'd say neither is really that great. I would say the larger companies like Allstate and State Farm offer much better service. Check out http://My-InsuranceSearch.com to compare rates from all the major providers. You might be surprised how reasonable some of the rates are.
2. Neither. call a local independent agent and get some quotes. people tend to gravitate towards names they have heard, but in reality some of the companies you may never have heard of can be the best as far as service and claims handeling, which is what you want! Just make sure the company has an "A" rating.

Between those two, and only those two, I'd choose Progressive for a variety of reasons, not the least of which would be Geico's commercials which are attempts at humor I'm sure, but generally done in bad taste. As a towing company that pays out a lot yearly in insurance, and having zero claims, I resent the commercial "The tow truck the police called did more damage than the accident..." and refuse to tow for Geico any longer.
4. Neither, I have State Farm Ins. i have low rates and it is great.
5. Progressive has always treated us really well. The rates are pretty comparable. GEICO have about 25,000+ people switch to them every year, but they never have more than 5 more policies than they did the year before. There has to be something that is causing that many people to switch
6. Of the two, Progressive is a STRONGER company and pay their claims well. In most major cities, the have Concierge service - one stop for repair, car rental, etc. They also have the Emergency Response Vehicles that will sometimes beat the police to accident scenes - evaluate the claim, adjust the claims and give the injured parties a check! I don't think there are many other companies out there that will do THAT! I had a client with Progressive that rolled his truck on Monday, called us on Tuesday - not even knowing WHERE his wrecked truck was. WE located it with the help of Highway Patrol and called in the claim on Tuesday afternoon. Progressive worked the claim on Wednesday and the client was in my office on Thursday in a NEW truck! Progressive claims service IS "second to none" and THAT is what you buy insurance for. Good luck, drive RESPONSIBLY and I hope this helps!
