Have you had a good or bad experience with Geico Auto Insurance?

- So far it's been good. Ten years
- So far so good, 8 yrs. Even had an accident claim. Zero hassle.
- After getting sick of their endless ads, I finally checked rates with them. They wanted 60% more than what I was paying at the time. The ads are enough to turn one off to them.
- I have had nothing but very bad experience with Geico Auto Insurance extending from 1997 - 2004. The details are as follows: 1. Wife had Geico when we got married, Geico wanted to surcharge her because I'm a licensed driver. This was despite the fact that I had my own car and my own insurance. 2. When my wife and I decided to combine insurance companies, we stayed with Geico (big mistake). I had had a few collisions in NYC Police Department vehicle's and Geico again wanted to surcharge our policy for these accidents, despite the fact that it's in violation of NYS Insurance Law to do so. I had to bring a copy of the law in to the regional office before they removed the surcharges. 3. Geico's collision policy needs some revamping. They will ONLY find you 100% not at fault in an accident if and only if a) you're struck from behind or b) you're vehicle is parked. I found this out after stopping for a red light on a 2-way street and getting hit in the front by a turning articulated bus whose driver was distracted by a cab driver. They only found the bus driver 70% at fault and me 30% !!!!! When I argued my case about obeying the red light laws, did they change their minds. 4. Last and certainly not least, my wife was involved in an accident where her mini-van got T-boned. Geico found her 100% at fault despite: a) roadway has limited visibility, b) advanced age & therefore reduced reaction skills of other driver, c) accident damage wasn't consistent with maximum posted speed limit, d) damage was beyond the 1/2way point of the vehicle indicating that my wife had the right-of-way and e) the weather factors (wet roadway). I provided them with a much better accident report than the 1 the Nassau County Officer wrote and a diagram showing how the roadway concaves and has reduced visibility for the other driver; ergo he should have been slower and a mathematical computation based upon "crush damage" that showed the other vehicle was over the posted speed limit by 15mph. They absolutely refused to accept any of my documents, my training as a NYC Police Department Highway Patrol Officer w/Accident Investigation credentials, and the computed speed based upon a Nationally accepted formula. Needless to say, I was vexed. I immediately sought another insurance company and went to their regional office and demanded a refund of the remaining policy $ and wouldn't leave until they provided me with a check for said funds. We've been with Allstate ever since.
- Compare Geico with others out there. The best auto insurance is the one that fits what you are looking for. I use this site to compare what's available: Auto Car Plus Insurance Transfer Site http://www.acats.net All the best, Noel
