- You should be able to purchase a full major medical health insurance plan for about $50-$75 a month at your age as long as you are healthy. Here are some companies to consider: 1. Aetna 2. Blue Cross Blue Shield 3. United Healthcare 4. Humana 5. UniCare You will want to compare quotes from at least 3-5 different companies to find the best rates for your specific situation. http://www.HealthQuote360.com
- Does your company offer health care? I would go for that first if they offer it. If you go out and pay for insurance on your own it can get expensive. Not sure what state your in, but if your company doesn't offer health insurance you might want to look into something like Medicaid or Family Health Plus ( I know they have that in NY).
- I have looked into health insurance and it is not cheap. Does your work offer you anything. You are looking at $400-$700 a month if you are trying to get it privately. A business usually gets deals and you can get it for about $200 a month.
- Most of the top ones are pretty good. Just get something with a high deductible so your premiums are lower. Check out http://www.ez-insurancefinder.com they'll have some great info and gives you quotes from some of the top providers in your area. See which plan covers you best.
- Health Insurance is very affordable at your age! The most common question I get daily is "Can I find QUALITY coverage in my price range". Again, the simple answer is yes! When dealing with an Insurance Broker you can look at hundreds of options. The main difference in your monthly premium is your annual OOP. OOP is Out of Pocket, and when you purchase a health insurance plan, you need to know what your annual OOP maximum is. The higher that max, the lower your monthly premium. There is always an affordable option, it just might have more OOP than your neighbor. Is this a bad thing? Not necessarily! If you are young and healthy, there is no reason not to have a higher deductible, in fact I encourage it, because it's going to save you money.... (at least that's the hope). When you have a high OOP it really isn't the end of the world. The bottom line is that with most plans, you'll never know the difference. Dr. visits are often are the same price, regardless of OOP and the same goes for prescription drug coverage and preventative care. The only time that you could really feel the impact of having a higher OOP is when you go to the hospital. This is generally the result of an Accident or Critical Illness. Both of which lead to another topic for another day. To find out more about Accident and Critical Illness Insurance or to find out how affordable health insurance really can be. - Assuming that you don’t have a health insurance option through your employer, you can get an idea of the health insurance options available to you by talking with a licensed agent or visiting an online agency like the one I work for, eHealthInsurance.com. The monthly rates that you’ll pay for coverage can vary widely between states. One thing to think about: you mention that you are looking for coverage for checkups. That means you value coverage for preventive care services. And that’s great. Luckily a lot of health insurance plans will cover preventive care services with a small copayment. But you might also want to think about how you would fare if you had an unexpected accident or injury. Take a look at the deductible offered by different health insurance plans. The deductible is what you will have to pay out of pocket before your coverage really kicks in. (The deductible may not apply to preventive care services, depending on the plan.) You may be able to find a fairly affordable plan with a high deductible (like, $3000-$5000). But if, for example, you had to be hospitalized, could you afford to pay that much before coverage kicks in? Just something to think about. If you want personal assistance or advice, it’s a good idea to talk to a licensed agent. There are probably some in your area, or you can talk to a licensed agent through our website, too. -Katie Bryant

- There are several on-line services that can assist you in getting a quote. Two of the more reliable are : http://www.kqzyfj.com/click-2952034-10517499 http://www.anrdoezrs.net/click-2952034-10359791 Because they specialize and partner with numerous health insurance providers, you are more likely to get better coverage at a better rate through them verses calling around to individual agents. I hope this helps!
