Auto and Car Insurance

Car insurance!!!!!!!!?????

i am learning to drive and want to go on my mums insurance for a few months so that she can take me out in her car and teach me. she phones up and found out that it is £1000 for 1 year, but i only want to learn with her for a few months. Does this mean that after i have learnt to drive i can buy my own car and still stay on this insurance for the rest of the year or can i only drive her car or wot????????

  1. ok say if you paid this price. you would beable to drive that car aslong as you are with your mom with L plates ofcourse. say in 3 - 4 months you pass your test your mom will have to phone up and change the policy telling them you passed and your test so that you could drive on your own. your insurance will then again more than likely change price again. if u dont understand this give us a quick email at craigmartell1987@hotmail.co.uk i try and explain better.
  2. You can stay on the insurance but the company may charge you more money, some companies take the view that you will be more sensible if someone is sitting next to you! You would be able to take yourself off of your mums policy and receive a refund. It would be worth checking before taking out what the refund would be after six months. When looking for quotes in your own name quote with and without a pass plus certificate, some insurers will take off 30% off the premium.
  3. there is a company called Quinn direct, give them a ring they are very good with provisional insurance and not very expensive and easy to deal with. Best of luck mate i had the same problem. http://www.quinn-direct.com
  4. Your mum will be able to take you off her policy when you buy your own car if you don't want to drive hers any more and she will then get some of the money back. (less admin fees). If you stay on her policy then you will only be able to drive her car. If you buy your own car then you will have to insure it yourself - and if you thought £1000 was a lot . . .
  5. on her policy you can only drive her car but you should be able to remove yourself when you have passed and get a refund. To insure a car for yourself you will have to have your own policy.
