health insurance and vehicle insurance in U.S.?
Hi, I have heard that in U.S. getting health insurance and your vehicle insurance is mandatory and not your option/choice. Is that true? If yes, what is the rationale behind government enforcing this on citizens? Thanks,

- no its not true. that law is state by state. some states require vehicle insurance bc if you get in an accident and its your fault, your insurance company will pay to fix the other car. imagine if someone hit you and damaged your car but didnt have money to fix it. some states require health insurance bc if someone becomes very sick, and cant afford to pay their medical bills, then the state ends up losing money
- The government doesn't enforce anything in regards to insurance. Its not mandatory nationwide. It varies from state to state. Each state sets their own laws in regards to auto/health/home insurance what is mandatory what is not.
