Auto and Car Insurance

How much would basic car insurance be for me?

I am 16 years of age and a new driver. My parents are gonna get me a civic. Does the brand or year of the car matter for insurance? Will my basic car insurance be high if my civic was new?

  1. Go to progressive.com they give you an exact quote for a specific car. It just asks a couple of questions. Its really easy.
  2. Yes, brand and year have a lot to do with cost of insurance.. We can not answer the question as every state is different. You would need to contact an insurance Co. Better yet have parents do this and add you under same policy that they have...
  3. Since you are under 18, you can't enter a financial agreement which is what insurance is. Therefore your parents will have to add you as a driver on their policy, and once they do they will know how much the increase will be. Yes, generally speaking the newer the car, all else being equal, the higher the policy increase will be.
  4. yes it will cost your parents an arm and a leg? What the hell are you doing with a new car anyways when you are 16 years old. Cars are bad investments that only depreciate and go down in value. I am 30 years old and never owned a brand new car because it just doesn't make sense. I could afford a new car but the value goes down so fast it doesn't make sense to buy new. Plus the Civics are one of the most stolen cars and the insurance companies will make you pay extra for that. Plus you are a new driver and super young and male that is the worst combination for insurance buying. How are you and your parents going to manage the payments for the car and the super high insurance. Money would be better spent for your college education then to make the car and insurance companies rich. Do you even have a job? Who are you trying to impress with your car? It has a high chance of getting stolen or broken into and also have change of being in an accident because of your age so you will have a high chance of wrecking your new car. I would say you would have to pay at least $300 to maybe even $400 a month for insurance since you are super young and your car is brand new.
  5. Insurance is very individual because it's based on your drivers record, sex, age, and a number of other variables such as location, credit rating and type of vehicle being insured.
