How can you find out what car insurance company a person has?
A friend of mine had their parked car damaged by a driver and the person that did it is not willing to give out their insurance information. There was a police report and unfortunately the insurance information was not captured. Is there any ways to find out what insurance company a person has? Maybe through the DMV or alternative? I realize they may not have insurance but it still would be worth to find out. The damaged car only has liability insurance.

- Your friend has two options. Sue in small claims court the person who damaged the car. Have the claim subroggated by the friend's insurance. I would start with this option. Usually this falls under the uninsured motorist coverage, and usually has a $300 deductible. Regards, Dan
- The friends insurance company may be able to get the info even tho there was only liability coverage. Seems they should help their customer as a courtesy to their insured. Wouldn't hurt to ask

- The only way to find out what insurance the person carries is one.... if you have a license plate #...which you dooo... u would need to go to the police station... they are the only people that can get that.. and if they don't have insurance your out of luck.. Also, a good resource is... http://insurance.deal4-you.com Best of luck to you.
