Auto and Car Insurance

auto insurance?

My dad has my car and his car on his policy, I am currently in school and do not drive my car because I live in a dorm and no cars are allowed. I am not a driver listed on the policy and the insurance company wants to add me as a driver which is going to double my dad's policy. Is there any other type if auto insurance would just cover me as a driver for any car I use? Any suggesstion??? Help

  1. If your not driving then what's the point of adding yourself to the policy... You can also try to get a liability policy as well...not recommended though...I was just in an accident and I have liability... :(
  2. Well you must remember that the claim will be paid if you are a legal driver (have drive licence), because the insurance company need a report from the policeman if the accident happened because ..... (you or the other part) guilty. It make your insurance comp. or the other ins comp have to pay the expense on "the accident". If you have no drive licence, don't put your father into trouble , may be no payment for your claim. Daaaaaaaaaah.
  3. No... Cars are insured, not drivers. You must be listed on your Dads policy whether you drive or not because the insurance company, by law, MUST cover any licensed driver in the household. The only way around your situation is to abandon your Dads residence and establish residency on your own.
