How long will a DWI conviction affect vehicle insurance premiums in Texas?

  1. You should contact your insurance agent, as laws may vary from state to state. I do know that an alcohol conviction, even if it has been reduced to a negligent or reckless driving, insurance companies can go back ten yrs. Most insurance companies are allowed three yrs of driving history, unless alcohol related.
  2. Your insurance company can look back 5 years (7 in some cases) on alcohol related convictions in Texas. 7 if something serious like vehicular manslaughter is involved.
