Classic car insurance for non-garaged car?
Anyone know of a company that will cover my cars if they are in a carport instead of a garage? Hagerty says no, anyone have any suggestions? I live in So. Cal so it would cost me half a million dollars to get a home with garage.

- You do not need to have your car in a garage to be able to get insurance in So.Calif. I live in So. Cal and I have gotten insurance for my car. My neighbor has a classic 57 Chevy and he has insurance and it isn't garaged either. He live directly across the street from me, it's sitting on the dive way. Pretty much any insurance co. will insure you as long as your insurable, where you have not had tons of tickets or accidents.
- Sorry, I've sought the same thing. But they figure that most people with high-dollar cars will have secure, inside protection for their investment. For those of us who don't have that, getting classic insurance requires the car to be garaged ( so vandals, etc. can't get to it easily ). You can lie, and say you have a garage, but if it turns out you don't, you'll get nothing in the end. Pretty much you can't find any antique car insurance that will cover non-garaged cars, only project or running project car insurance is available ( Haggerty has that now ). Might have to go that route. Good luck. - The Gremlin Guy -
- i have a few that live outside, progressive is the best company I have found. .geico will do it as well, but cost a little more. .. in the past i have used viking. and they did cover one of my cars that was damaged with no problems. i currently have a 55 Chevy, 60 t-bird , and a 59 2 door wagon they all live out doors in Central Calif
