  1. it is usually cheaper as part of the family plan. prices vary radically based on where you live. (think thousand- two thousand) if you are the titled owner of the vehicle you may be able to get lowest legal minimal coverage policy. (benefit - takes liability risks away from your parents. you have nothing, so what can you be sued for?)
  2. I recently got a car and I'm on State Farm insurance. With them you get a discount if you have multiple people on the account, as well as if you have a 3.0 gpa in high school or college. It doesn't make a difference that you're a new driver as long as you don't have any accidents, tickets, or insurance claims under your belt.
  3. Well, it depends. The car has to be titled to the policyholder. If you have an old junk car, and are happy with bare minimum liability, well, that's pretty hazardous for your parents, as they could have their wages attached! But cheapest for you. If you need full coverage, it will likely be cheaper on their policy. As always, there are EXCEPTIONS, so if you ARE putting a car in your own name, call around for quotes to a LOCAL agent.
  4. With this site you can check for local brokers and agents to see which one would work best for you!
