Motor insurance, their latest excuse for not dealing with your claim. What can I do?
My sons insurer is Churchill, the third party (who will not admit liability even though pulled out of private driveway into the road and into my sons car) is Direct Line, both Royal Bank of Scotland companies. They are saying has to go to head office??? for sorting. Should this conflict of interest be allowed, and why should the paying customer be penalised.

- No. However UK insurers are a bunch of eunochs who don't know their arse from their elbow. If you leave it and let them sort it out eventually (after months) you will get a miserable sum. The trick is to ring your insurer everyday at different times, ask to speak to the same person, and basically make their life a complete misery until they get off their fat backside and sort it out. Not pretty, but it works!
- This is not a conflict of interest. Both companies are separate companies. If you don't think this should be allowed - what other option do you propose? Should one of the companies just deny coverage because a sister company is on the other side? I'm not sure what you mean by "sorted". It could be something really simple like - the claim is being sent up the chain to be reviewed by management before payment is made. If the accident is not your fault and the claim file supports that - then management may say that the at fault policy needs to pay you. Right now - I'd not be concerned. Just sounds like a procedural thing.
- MSAD is correct. There is no conflict of interest. I am sure that the claim is being handled by two different adjusters as well. I have no idea what "sorting:" means, but perhaps the claim had to be reassigned to somebody. If you do not hear back within the next couple days(Monday)call and speak to a supervisor. Through experience I have handled and supervised plenty of claims where both parties were insured by the SAME insurance company, just not an entity of the parent company. Files are blocked for each adjuster.
- Matt G - You obviously know nothing about insurance so please do not make comments like that. We are people too - just doing our job.
