Car Insurance with Motorcycle NCB?
Hi all, I have been riding a motorbike for a few years and have a NCD with my bike insurer. I am wondering if anyone knows of any car insurance brokers that will take my motorbike NCB into consideration, as I have never driven a car before. I have been searching the net, and found that Direct Line insurance allows you to do this, but I'd like to shop around a bit more! Thanks in advance.

- Best thing to do would be find an independent agent not tied to any one insurance company, explain your situation and allow him to search for you.
- Hi there, Many of the car insurance providers ignore motorcycle driving history. However, you best bet would be to use an insurance comparison like www.insurancewide.com to find your best car insurers. Then, when you've got a quote, try ringing them up for the haggle. At this point, you can mention your motorcycle NCB, company car driving history ...basically anything which you haven't been able to get across through an online form.
- There are few insurers, that I know of, that will actually take this in to account. Most, if not all, will ask whether you have access to another vehicle. However, this is based on the premise that you will spend less time driving the vehicle that you wish to insure. I am in the same position as you (a NCB of two years on a motorcycle) but few insurance companies will honestly take it in to account. I think that most sales staff are trained to tell you that they will give you a discount but in fact this is not because of your NCB but because you are asking for one. I suggest some comparison sites for insurance and then speak to them on the phone. These guys have been good for me in the past: https://www.insurancewide.com/quotation_insurancewide_connect.html Hope that helps Chillbo
