Can I get TWO tickets in california for the same thing?

I just received a fix-it ticket for no proof of insurance and a cracked windshield. I just purchased the car a few days ago! If I continue driving this vehicle, will it be legal for an officer to give me another ticket for the same thing?... Thanks alot yahoo!

  1. Yes they can. Unless they gave you a amount of time you have to fix it then they can give you another one a few hours later.
  2. Unfortunately, yes. Proof of insurance should be the easiest to sort. Count yourself lucky, they could have written you a ticket for no insurance if you had now way of proving you had it. As far as the windshield, if you have made an appointment to have it fixed and are driving it to be fixed, most officers wouldnt write you a ticket. But, if you want to avoid it all the way, get your insurance and get them out to your place to fix it.
  3. yup-yup but if you get it fixed before the date on your ticket they won't charge you.
  4. Check the ticket to see how much time you were given to make the corrections. If you let that date pass, you can be ticketed again.
  5. yes ,i got two tickets to the football game @ I also got two tickets to the hockey game .
  6. Each day you drive on the road in violation of the law can be another ticket. I normally don't cite people who already have a citation for the offense I'm looking at, but if you show me a ticket that's two months old and you STILL haven't taken care of it, I'm writing you another one. And frankly, if you got that citation yesterday, and you display a less-than-pleasant attitude today, you stand an equally good chance of getting another ticket.
