RE: How do most major auto insurance work when a vehicle is stolen?

My Uncles SUV was stolen and he is affraid that they will recover it vandalized and given back to him. He doesn’t want it back as he is afraid the damage is allot. Is there a specific time in which all insurance companies give before they say its a total loss and pay the vehicle? Does waiting period varies by insurance company?

1. most insurance companies use the same time frames and if the car was vandalized while stolen the insurance would pay for the repairs so your uncle shouldn't worry
2. most companies have a 30 day wait period to see if the car is recovered. if it is your uncle can claim any damage on the auto to have it repaired.
