Have I lost my no claims now?

I sold my car in January this year and i had 12 years no claims with tescothey was not proteced that i recall. I am now thinking of getting another car 8 months later will i have lost my no claims discount will i have to start all over agin?????????? I was going to go back to tesco as they will have it on record, i have heard you loss it, its ok for 2 years and its you thats covered not the time you have the insurance....so confused! Can you shed any light for me?????

1. it would depend on the company. some give u the discount b/c u were w/ them f/ 12yrs w/ no claims. regardless, you would def. lose any renewal credits u would have accrued over the years. i would call them and find out.
