If I take out vehicle insurance through AARP, will I have a hard time being compensated if I ever have a claim

I am tempted to check into AARP insurance for my vehicles, it's through a reputable company, Hartford, but I am concerned about if there would be any problem filing a claim and being compensated if the need ever arose. Right now, I have insurance through a local company, and I know the agent personally, who I can holler at if need be to get a claim satisfied, but dealing with a large national company makes me wonder if there would be any problem satisfying a claim. Anybody out there had any experience with satisfying a claim through AARP with Hartford ins. I appreciate any input. Any other input would be helpful also, thanks.

  1. I HAVE TRIED IN THE PAST WITH AARP AND THEY ARE VERY PROUD OF THEIR INSURANCE RATES, MEANING VERY HIGH. 1. NO ACCIDENTS FOR THE PAST 30 YEARS. 2. NO TICKETS FOR THE PAST 30 YEARS. 3. NO CLAIMS. TWO VEHICLES FOR A YEAR WAS $1800.00 SINCE I HAVE BEEN WITH PROGRESSIVE I PAY $650.00 A YEAR.
  2. I have asked the Hartford for quotes a coupe of times... They were always quite a bit higher than my current coverage through State Farm.
  3. Well, there are a couple of problems if you do. First is the Hartford doesn't have a particularly good rating. A.M. Best Affirms 'A+' Rating of ITT Hartford Insurance Pool - Rating Outlook Revised Downward to Negative - http://www.prnewswire.com/cgi-bin/stories.pl?ACCT=105&STORY=/www/story/39876 Then you have the problem of rates, which are among the higher of the industry. Then we have what you mentioned in your question, you will be giving up a person you can go to and talk to if necessary for an 800 number and web page.
