is there a difference between comprehensive car insurance of various insurers?
their prices are different, but do they cover me exactly in the same way, or some are full of get-out clouses whereas others are not ? for instance: tesco seems cheap, but will i be safe taking this ?

- Check what the 'excess' premium is on each insurance - some can be as low as £50.00 as where others can be £500. That would affect the cost. ALso, some offer screen insurance and a courtesy car in the event of accident as where others don't. Basically read the small print to compare xxxx
- The comprehensive cover varies from insurer to insurer, usually for things like windscreen and legal cover but providing you read through the conditions and you're happy then fine. However, before you go with anyone, run the online quotes on this link - they compare hundreds of insurers and I usually save loads each year.
- Cheapest is not always best.I found £400 difference in quotes for my insurance but i have legal fees, medical cover(in Europe)I'm insured against being sued if i really hurt someone, low excess, free replacement stereo, free windscreen cover(normally £50),protected no claims bonus and free green flag although I'm with the AA. So look at the small print and see what they are really offering.
- You have to shop around. At renewal I enquired through a broker and was able to insure my car for £100 less but was astounded to find that the underwriter was the same company. You will find that some brokers are able to negotiate better terms than others.
