Where do car insurance companies find accident/driving violations? I have a clean driving record since 1991. I insured my younger brother's car a few years ago. He was in a couple accidents with alcohol playing the factor. The car title was under my name along with insurance. I want to compare insurance quotes but I honestly do not remember the dates of his accidents (3-4+ years ago?). If I find a cheaper rate, I want to make sure I am not dumped by the new insurance company for false information. How do I access the same information the insurance companies find for actual quotes? Since it was his name associated with the accidents and not mine, is there a unique database for this?

I've never had a claim in the past, but I was wondering if anyone had positive/negative feedback they'd be willing to share about any specific companies and how they handled a claim. Hello, I have just bought a new car in a Toyota car dealer: They have found for me an insurance for the car, comparing with different insurance companies. But now at home, I am trying a quote with Geico, and it seems that I could probably get a better price with this company (not completely sure, I need to call them). Why are UK Car Insurance Premiums so high compared to the rest of Europe? After a quick browse on the nest I found that similar conditions and parameters when applied to Germany, France, Switzerland and the Netherlands produce quotes that are at least half to a maximum of 70% less. Also, continental insurers are not asking too many questions. I was never asked about, where I park the car, if it has a tracking device, if there's CCTV in the area or what brand the alarm system was. Does anyone know why these UK premiums end up so much more expensive? (The one reason I can imagine, is that insurance gets much less exposure in advertising in those European copuntries compared to UK). Any answers appreciated.

Moving in 1.5 months and getting a car - Should i buy before or after for car insurance? I'm planning to buy a car but I'm moving to a new place in 1.5-2 months. Question is, should I buy the car while i'm still at my current address, or wait til I move to the new place? My concern is the car insurance. I've heard people having problems with their insurance when they change their address. If I get a car now and get it insured before moving, wouldn't my insurance be based on my original address? would my future address be factored in instead? car insurance question...? i got into a car accident yesterday. my policy just started yesterday as well (i know i know). i have liability, my car was totaled, theirs has relatively minor damage compared to mine. their passenger went to the hospital. i was fine. i'm pretty sure it was my fault. so i know my car isn't going to get covered on this. my question is, i am getting a new car and i wanted to know if it was legal for the insurance company to drop me now or if they have to wait until the policy is up (which is 6/18). i already know my rate is going to go up so that is not my question. in case this helps, i live in maryland. i have progressive. the accident happened in delaware. also, i wasn't doing anything wrong, it just happened, it was at night and i swear i didn't see them. they must have had their lights on or something, and on top of that, their car was this weird color that's really easy to miss in the dark. the cop said it was the light, from switching to the green arrow to solid green, there is no transition (i.e. a yellow arrow), it just does it by itself. there are accidents all the time he said.

Any experience of Swift Cover Car Insurance??? I am with Diamond at present and despite being with them for 6years and having 5years NCB their renewal quote is very high. I am potentially downgrading from a 2.8 TDX 4x4 to a 1.2 SXi Corsa and the reduction is only £30!! I looked on confused.com and Swift cover seemed to have a good rate (i know the really cheap ones on there are not so good- high excess etc). I looked on the website and it seems pretty good with only £100 excess compared to £150 with Diamond. Has anyone used Swiftcover for insurance before and would they recommend them or not??? Insurance Appraisal for car damages? I recently got into a small accident and it was at the other parties fought. Unfortunately we both had same insurance company which was GEICO. I went to Geico's bailly adjuster and it seemed like they appraised it the cheapest way. For instance ..my bumper needs to be replaced and they appraised it for reconditioned bumper which cost $175.00 compared to new bumper cost around $400-$500. Can they do this. I don't want a used bumper on my car. HELP!!!
