Will my insurance cover my business vehicle? I purchased a car for my business. I had no credit for my business (inc.) so I had to cosign for the vehicle and get it on my credit. When the vehicle was insured I used my personal insurance. If I get into an accident, will my insurance cover it? I believe the vehicle is registered to my business
Business Car insurance for many vehicles under one policy? I have 12 business cars - 5 Performance, and 7 normal - I bought them for my employees so they can drive them about, however, i want to get them insured under 1 policy, any driver - so basically, any of my employees can drive any of the vehicles- Is there such a policy? and is it under my quoted price of 40k ?
Can I Drive A Vehicle On Fleet insurance? Can a business with 10 vehicles allow any employer with a driving licence to drive them. if so is their a special licence the business must have with the insurance.
Can I lease my personal vehicle to my business? I just purchased a truck and paid cash. THe vehicle is my personal vehicle and in my name. Can I lease the truck to my business? If so, how is this done and recorded in my books? In this scenario, how is the cost of gas, insurance, repairs, etc handled? My business is a corporation. How would I calculate the lease amount that the business pays to me? The vehicle cost $35,000 and I would estimate it is used 70% for business and 30% for personal. I dont want the business to end up owning the vehicle. Can you give some examples of how this would be recorded in say QuickBooks or a similar accounting program? How is gas, insurance and repairs handled?
Should parents help out with a vehicle/insurance/gas? I am 16, and do not have a drivers license yet (will in Dec). I work at home doing work for clients online, and help out with my dad's self-run internet software business. Right now, I am required to pay for my vehicle, gas, and insurance. My parents say this is so I will value driving and my vehicle before. I am financially responsible, and work hard for my money. I paid the $310 for driving school from money I made off of a website I did for a client. When I can get a license, I plan to get a vehicle, and will have about $8000 in money that I've earned from online business. I swim competitively, and will be driving about 20 miles every day to get to the pool, then 20mi to pick up my bro from tennis the other way. I am still required to pay for it all. Is there a way I can talk to my parents to help me out with a vehicle, insurance, or gas? Is there a reason they should help out? It seems most of my friends get some of it or all, but I don't want to use that excuse. Thanks! By the way, I respect my parents decision to do this - it can really help build my appreciation towards driving and owning/operating a vehicle - I am just hoping for a little bit of help. If not, then I just suck it up and be proud for what I've got.
How should I handle my business vehicle on my books? I have a business vehicle in both my name and the business name. I plan on trading it in because it needs work. When I traade it in, for insurance purposes I plan on putting it in my name only. My accountant said that would be fine. I often hear people say they lease their vehicle to their business. My accountant said I will get depreciation on the purchase. Is this different from the business leasing the vehicle from me or is that what I would be doing? A lease sounds good but I just want to avoid any kind of gains from disposing of the first vehicle in trade in. My acct is out for a week so I'd appreciate any response for now
Insurance with car or person in Georgia? My wife has been allowing her father to use her car to work as a pizza delivery man while his car is getting fixed. We don't have her car listed as a business vehicle, but he says that if he wrecks it his insurance will cover it. I'm not sure if he is correct or not, but I don't know the law in Georgia. I'm afraid he'll get in a wreck and we'll get sued or have our insurance policy canceled. Is he correct? Thanks.
insurance for company vehicle? I wish to purchase a vehicle for my business. I want to insure my employee who will be the sole driver of this vehicle to obtain tag and title from dealer. Can I do this with the vehicle in my company name.
Car insurance companies ask what the use of the vehicle will be, whats the best answer? I am buying a car, though I probably won't use it to commute everyday, only for long trips out of the city. I noticed that insurance companies on their quotes ask what the car will be used for. I'm not even sure myself how the car will be used on average, what answer gets the lowest rate? Some examples are "Commuting to Job" "Commuting to School" "Pleasure/recreation" "Business"
Employer in NYS wants to hold me accountable for accident in her vehicle which I used for business.? As part of my job (off the books) in NYS, my employer asks me to use her personal vehicle to run business errands and gives me a list each day of where i need to go and what I need to do. I recently got into an accident and she wants $4300 to pay for damages at the dealership. It is an expensive car (and is leased). She does not want to report it to her own insurance company and wants me to pay for it instead. Police were on the scene and a report was filed (I have a copy). The car is registered in her name. The insurance damage appraiser of the other person/vehicle involved came to do an appraisal on her vehicle while I was at work. My boss uses the Mercedes for personal and business use and she has had me drive it since I began employment about 2 months ago. Am I liable or is it her responsibility? I have my own car, so I only use her vehicle to do responsibilities she asks me to take car of.
I have scratched the rental car during the business trip.? I am on business trip and my company pays for rental car. But no insurance (CDW) thru the rental car. My company says any vehicle that employee rents for business is covered by the corporate insurance. Now, I have scratched the rear door very bad against construction barrier (concrete block). The corporate insurance should cover for the damage. My question is; does it affect my own personal insurance premium? Looks like I have to fill out a claim form with my DL# and own personal insurance info, too. And I am concerned this accident will leave a record on me? and cause a higher premium on my own insurance for the next few years? although it was a rental car and the damage will be paid by my compnay's corporate insurance? Does anyone know? Thanks.
Where can I borrow a significant amount of money to start a business? I need to insure and register my vehicle, pay outstanding ticket, and rent a shop. Then my business-Micro Services Unlimited, can operate legitimately. I have two non-moving violations against my drivers license, that have to be paid in full, to reinstate my license, then permits and local licensing requirements, as well as insurance bonding etc., for business operations, as well as a certain amount of materials needed to stock shop facility. Rental fees for shop location. Utilities for shop/office facility include telephone, water, gas, electric, internet access. Advertising is low cost due to already established clientle list. Realistic info for a business loan or grant info would be appreciated. The amount sought is open for discussion.
Is it better to purchase a vehicle in my name or my business name? My accountant said either way would be fine but I wanted some opinions. I currently have a vehicle in the business name that I plan on trading in. It is easier to get financing in my name rather than the business so I would prefer to put it in my name, plus insurance is cheaper. What are the advantages or disadvatages of putting it in my name versus the business name? If it is in my name is that the same as me leasing the truck to the business. I am just trying to avoid any kind of gain on my books by getting rid of the other vehicle so I don't know if I can trade it in on a new vehicle that I would lease to the business. I appreciate any info.
If an employee is backing out and hits a pole in their employers vehicle (which is not insured) who pays? This is a house cleaning business and the employer gave the employee the vehicle (with the business name/numbers in several location) so they could cover more ground. Since the accident the employee has quit and now the empoyer want's $750.00 for the damages to the front passenger door. The employer did not have any kind of insurance on it and it was not registered. The reverse light and blinkers did not work as well.
Does uninsured driver insurance cover a hit and run in California? Hi! My car was smashed by a hit and run driver (fortunately I was not in it). Unfortunately, it seems unlikely that the police are going to find them. I only have liability insurance. I have found several anecdotal accounts of people in California having their uninsured driver insurance, included in liability, cover damage to the vehicle caused by a hit and run. A lawyer also told me this is the case (he was not soliciting my business but happened to be passing by when I found my wrecked car). My insurance company told me that in California, uninsured driver insurance only covers KNOWN uninsured drivers, and if they don't know who hit you, you're out of luck. Does anybody know if there is some legal loophole I can throw at the insurance company or anything? Or is this kind of thing at the insurance company's discretion? I don't know how other people could have gotten paid for their cars in this situation if it's really not required by law. Thank you. Additional info: I do have uninsured driver insurance, for both bodily injury and property damage...my company includes it in liability.
How easy it is to do the buy a vehicle and resell the Vehicle? it is easy to buy vehicles and resell vehicle for example. suppose I buy a 2002 Mini Van for $6000 and later on in the day resell them for $9000 75k at a kelly blue book private party? However, I would always set it for neg/o.b.o. I was thinking of doing as a business as an income if i do that how much taxes you have to pay. I will not own a car lot this will just be indivual buy and resell. Let me know what the risk and if anyone dose it before espeicaly insurance and registration.
When should i buy car insurance? I am going to buy a car on Tuesday. Is there a grace period during which i can drive the car without insurance until i get it, like 5 business days or something like that, or do i need insurance before i buy the car?? This is my first vehicle so i dont have an existing policy i can add this too.
Can I still go after company even though claims have been settled with my insurance? A drunk driver in a company vehicle ran into my house, causing $10,000 damage as well as totalling two vehicles that were in my driveway. The employee was unlicensed by the way. He also has a previous DUI on his record. All of my claims with my insurance have been settled. In the end, I lost about $5,000. I also want to be compensated for the inconvenience/burden. Would I have a case if I went after the business? Thank you.
Involved in an car accident with a business man who wont fork over his insurance info.? Gentleman was racing with another vehicle and lost control coming through the intersection where i was stopped at a redlight and struck head on. Suspect tried to escape but couldnt get far because of his injuries. He and the other driver were both arrested for wreckless driving. For some odd reason they were not tested for drugs or alchohol, and the gentleman has not provided any insurance info. When i phoned the guy i got his voicemail that says he owns some sort of magazine and publishing company. How can I find out whether someone is holding out on their insurance information.
What is the correct way to add the vehicle expenses in my taxes? I have a partnership with my wife, we own a car and we use it for business. I am adding the gas, insurance and cost of rapairs to the expenses of the partnership, can i still deduct miles in my personal taxes? is deducting the miles same a depreciation for the car? I am Seattle, WA ( if that matters)
Can some one please clarify the following Churchill assumption for a car insurance quote.? You use the vehicle for social, domestic and pleasure use or for commuting to and from your normal place of work if your occupation is one of the following: Motor Trade, Retired, Housewife/Househusband, Driver, Student and Unemployed. For all other occupations the vehicle may be used in connection with your business or those of your spouse, partner or civil partner (not business partner). Now dose this mean I can drive to from home to the supermarket where I work and back home again and can you put it as spimply as possable please.
my own car insurance help?!? I've been a named driver on my boyfriends policy for over a year. I've started a new job and they've said I have to have business insurance and I cant get that upgrade from my boyfriends policy because we dont live together and are not married as such. I've bought car insurance now, but am wondering if anyone knows what happens to my 'named driver' part on my boyfriends insurance as he really only has the policy for me, cos his work etc pays all his for his company vehicle. Can he get refunded my 'named driver' bit? or cancel the whole policy?! Any advice would be great! Thanks
How tough is it to open an independant courier business in Texas? I want to pick up and deliver small items.? I have 8 years experience working in the mailroom for 2 large oil companies, so I have some experience on the receiving end of the business. I would like to deliver small packages, letters, envelopes, etc. and possibly court/legal documents. I would start out as a one man operation, but does anyone have any ideas on how I would begin to market myself, rates to charge and types of insurance I would need. I would base my operation from home at the beginning. I have 3 vehicles (van, sedan, small car),a state- of -the -art computer, a business cell phone and a willingness to work hard. How does a person break into the business? Would it be better for me to start out working as a contractor for an existing company? I don't want to try to compete with the "Big 3" (FedEX, UPS and DHL). I want find my niche by offering same day delivery, not over night services. Any independant courier guys/girls out there who have tried this and have been successful? Any response or ideas will be appreciated!
Has anyone put an advertisement on their car for money? I have heard a lot about www.MoneyToDrive.com on here. I could use the extra cash. I talked to my insurance company and since the vehicle is not being used for business my insurance rates will not increase (it is like putting a sticker in your window), then it seems like a good idea.
for all the capitalists, Big business and Big government from both parties ? We don't enjoy a free market in this country.. we have corporatism... in fact our current form of corporatism squashes small business and entrepreneurial spirit... but this is even worse.. I heard a poll today that stated 60% of Americans support a "mandated" healt insurance for every citizen.. and 65% stood in favor of "mandatory" insurance for children.. very similar to what Obama is pushing for in his campaign... so we then have a compulsery "Law" that benefits the health insurance agencies and providers without nary a word about adjusting costs set by these companies... In NY vehicle insurance is compulsory ... you will be fined and lose your licence for up to a year if you are stopped without it... the result Insurance for auto's in NY state is the 3rd highest in the nation... so does this corporatist business model favor fair trade and competition or is it really just another form of fascist taxation for the individual ? I will ad that I am strongly progressive and what many of you would deem "leftist" but I am not partisan... Obama, Clinton, McCain.... all suck
Is it worth having comprehensive and collision on your vehicle? I mean, some people drive their whole lives and never have a problem only minor dents here and there that cost nothing at a body shop. Others get into severe accidents. I guess it's a gamble, but sometimes your rates increase by about 400% by putting these on your policy. That's inflated but well, it increases a great deal, and what if you have nothing happen to you? Then that's THOUSANDS lost, and into the hands of the greedy insurance companies ( who god forbid you call greedy, they're out to help you, they CARE,). Is this worth it? Especially for a personal pleasure type of ride. Not a business vehicle, truck, or any high end vehicle either. Just a regular middle of the road car you'll drive maybe 3 days a week or whatever. I don't know. Perhaps comphrehensive is better than collision. I mean, people get into accidents but, not as many as the media would have you think.
I have ordered a car door magnet advert for my business? so basically it just sticks on the side of my car. my boyfriend tells me it will affect my insurance and says i need to be insured as having a comercial vehicle and comprehensive insurance where as i only have tpft at the moment. is that right? Im not using the car for work i only want to put a small ad on it. Ok now im confused... i dont think people would be thinking i make lots more than them, its just advertising doing nail extensions... plus my car is not exactly desirable. lol
what is a fair reimbursement rate per mile for using my vehicle for company travel? my company pays .39/mile as reimbursment for using my car for company travel. I pay all gas myself. I'm just wondering if there is an industry standard for arrangements like this. I pay gas/insurance/maintenence on my car which I also use for personal. mileage reimbursement is of course only for business travel. Whats fair? any feedback helps. all very helpful--just to tune it in a little bit more.....opinion question-it is a small co-40-50-people. Do you think its appropriate to ask for a 10c increase from them? or is it going to look nit-picky. I am a top 20% producer and (usually) model type employee.
how do i file a lien on a vehicle? the vehicle is used for business only. the owner however left it in my possession with written agreement for me to operate and make repairs to the vehicle 8 months ago. and that if i took care of the repairs, they would sign it over. got into contact withthe owner, with proof of the work done on the car. owner refuses to sign off on the vehicle in order to get it released fro the state that it was impounded by. 8 months has gone by. and the only way to get the vehicle released is to have it signed over being the owner has a suspended license and no insurance opn the vehicle in his name. owner refuses to sign it over with the signed agreement for the repair work, in order to have the impounding state release the car.
What are my rights on an auto insurance claim? please help? Where I live (USVI) to own a vehicle you must transfer the title in front of a notary, get the vehicle inspected, then registered at DMV, then insured. I purchased a vehicle and transferred the title at end of business hours. Before the next day, an insured drunk driver totals out the parked vehicle and takes total responsibility. The insurance company tells me that the claim will have to be processed in the original owners name since it was never registered. After a ridiculous claims process with countless fees and costs, the check is written in the original owners name who agrees in writing to sign it over to me. Now the insurance company says that I have to take the canceled title back to the DMV, get it in my name, then immediately cancel it on the spot. All of this will make the check less than what I have invested now. What all extra does the insurance company owe me (loss of use, rental, etc) since their error has delayed the process over 3 weeeks?
Can you put Residental Plates on a truck Under your Bussiness Insurance? MY husband just started his own business, and now has his truck under the Business Insurance. We live in a Gated Community and they have really dumb rules including "NO COMMERCIAL VEHICLES" which his truck IS. So now he has to walk a mile to his truck parked at Foodtown and walk a mile to get back home at night in the dark. Today it was pouring rain and he is really pissed off. Is it possible to do residential plates under your business or do you have to put it on personal insurance only....but then it is not a wright off correct? It really bites, the rules are really ridiculous but we have a year left on our lease and then we will be buying so moving is out of question. Any helpful suggestions?? The Association is Completely Unreasonable. It used to a a 55+ Community and then they allowed Families and The older people are not in love with kids....not even remotely. They Actually HATE THEM, so It has been a on going issue just Playing ball out front ... So the truck being commercial "ITS A RULE" and they have absolutely No exceptions. It is such a tiny little truck to and its in great shape. Its just retarded. If we park in the development it will be a $50 PER DAY FINE. So he is walking until we can figure out what to do. Needless to say he is very ANGRY.
Australia- small businnes and buyng/leasing a vehicle? Hi, I have recently set up a small business (home based). I currently work 4days a week in a regular job and am in the process of building up my own small business on nights weekends and 1 day during the week. My question is, is there any tax benefit, which allows me to purchase, or lease a vehicle, which I can use for both personal use and my own small business use? If there is a way I can purchase/lease a vehicle in this way, what are the implications /restrictions if any? Can i also claim a % of the rego, fuel, insurance etc? I also want the vehicle to be sign written/branded with my company logo and phone number - does this make a difference? Any advice is much appreciated. Thanks Tim
Pulled over for no insurance? so i recently purchased a vehicle and i was pulled over with no insurance and no current registration 7 days before pay day and my last check went towards the car. anyways they nailed me with "No Proof of Insurance" And "new resident failure to register vehicle within 60 days" the vehicle was last registered in south dakota and i live in minnesota (have for quite a while) i know its dumb driving without insurance but at times keeping food on the table is a little more important. i dont wish to hire a public pretender as i cannot stand how they do business. since this is my only scratch on my driving record ever what can i expect in court? I will be registering the car when ive got the money to do so, and insurance is coming on the same day. anyone else been in the same situation before? also Mr "F U" i hear that all day at work i do NOT need to hear that from you. everyone else i do appreciate your input it is most definately helping me come up with a game plan ADD: the main reason i got pulled over was for expired registration.. the second part of the ticket
I use my car for business and personal use, what can I write off ? I am a freelance photographer and I usually charge my clients mileage when I travel. I know I can't write those miles/expenses off. But since I use my van at least half the time for work can I write off a percentage of my car insurance and repairs ? What about my parking permit that I have to purchase every 3 months for my vehicle that I park outside my studio ? Ugg...my paperwork is on fire ! HELP !
What is the best way to have an Employee-of-the-month car? I own my own business and I have quite a few employees. We started an employee of the month program based on dedication and revenues they produce. I was toying around the idea at a board meeting about getting a company car for the employee of the month. This is my idfea and I love it. We have business insurance but it does not cover the auto insurance portion of the vehicle or the driver of the vehicle, just the asset and loss portion. The issue we are having is there is no one currently who works for our company that is under 24 except for me. I am almost 30. We have a few employees who are 17-19 but most are 20-24. They all have drivers licenses with clean records per our employment requirements. Now this is what I came up with. My options are.. 1) Get a rental car and pay to have it monthly. This was, its a business expense and insurance will not be as much. Ofcourse, its hard to find locations who will rent under 25 and almost non-existant, yet posisble, to rent and insure drivers under 21. Now I can get our insurance company to handle a policy for retals cars for this age group and its not as much as I thought. 2) Purchase, finance, or lease a car for the company. Insurance it under our insurance and make sure the age group for the person driving it is covered. 3) Purchase(not finance or lease) a company car and insure it under our comnpany. Have the employee of the month purchase their own insurance policy for the car as blanket coverage. Any one else have ideas on how I can do this? Cost isn't a huge factor but I am not sure how to go about this. Your advice would be great. Please do not question on why I want to get a company car. Thanks.
Can an accident management company represent someone who wasnt injured in a car accident? Bascially I was in a car incident where myself and the claimant bumped into eachothers cars. It was agreed there was no damage to either vehicle, no injuries and there were no witnesses. However, some months later a direct accident management company have contacted my insurance company and are now trying to claim £6,000 for damages and car hire. And the claimant has also dreamed up a witness who has written a statement saying that they saw the accident and even spoke to me! (apparently I told him to mind his own business)! My insurance company have provided me with a solicitor as I now have a court hearing! There was no damage to my car and I wish to claim nothing.

Why do I need to sell my car before the insurance company pay depreciation value? I do not have rental car insurance on my business policy. Should the drunk driver insurance company be responsible for my daily rental car insurance at $26.00 a day? I am the owner of car dealership. My demo 2003 745li 15k miles was park in front of my house and drunk driver fell asleep at the wheel and hit my car from behind. The driver who hit me was at fault. The cost to repair the vehicle totaled $8000. The insurance company claims that they are liable for only the repairs to the vehicle and car rental during the repair. As you know, the car will not be worth the same because it was in an accident. The trunk hood replaced, bumper replaced and uni body repaired inside the trunk and quarter panel repaired? This car is for sale at my dealership. I having a problem trying to sell it because of the repaired body damage. The insurance company will not pay depreciation value until I sell the car. The driver has accepted responsibity. What should I do to recover from this accident?
legal recourse for harrasment via letters from business? I took out a consol/auto loan from a well known nat'l bank. One week after I got the loan, I rec'd a letter stating that I was req'd to carry insurance on the vehicle and was not doing so. I needed to send proof of insurance within 10 days, or insurance would be purchased for me. I sent the proof & verified they'd rec'd it. 2 weeks later, another letter stating I had no insurance. Fast forward to now (5 months after the start of the loan). I have faxed in my proof of insur on 11 separate occasions in response to letters rec'd. I have spoken with them 8 times to verify they have rec'd the proof. I have had 1 conference call between them and my insurance carrier. They have mistakenly purchased insurance for me and then canceled it & credited my acct. I was told on my last call that all was straightened out & I would not be bothered again. 2 days later, another letter. Do I have any legal recourse? Can this be considered harassment or fraud?

how do i recover my damaged vehicle from an auto repairman? Approximately five months ago me and my great condition 93 mustang were hit by an unknown driver who subsequently fled on foot. Police contacted the owner who claimed he'd loaned the vehicle to another man whom police found at his residence 20 mins away allegedly in his pajamas within 45 min of the accident who declared: "well if it's not out there now then it had to be stolen". Now the difficult part: At the time of the accident I was struggling financially(as I still am ) to get my business off the ground and didn't have any auto insurance in effect. Police cited no one on the accident report but did note that several witnesses gave statements that the unidentified driver ran a red light. Due to my financial situation I had the vehicle towed to a repair shop where I'd had the vehicle serviced before knowing they'd cover the towing fee until I had it fixed. Trying to get the owner on the phone was impossible and we couldn't take the time from our business to find his address.

Driving without insurance (but not aware!)? Hi, I asked a similar question concerning this before but didn't explain myself well enough. I was pulled over whilst driving my partners car (she was in the passenger seat with me) and when I took in my documents they wouldn't accept the insurance. It stated on the insurance paperwork (but, alas, not on the certificate) that it is legal for this vehicle to be driven, stating "by any other person for travel to and from a place of business" which I thought covered me as she is a community nurse and I went with her (and drove) for the day. I pleaded guilty by mail and also sent a letter explaining this situation and that I believed to be insured and now I have received a summons to go to court with these documents (for them to consider a lower punishment I presume). A long winded question I know, but has anybody been in this situation before and could advise me? I have never been to court before and am a little worried about it to be honest. Thankyou for your help.
Pleaded clemency for driving without insurance? Hi, I was pulled over whilst driving my partners car (she was in the passender seat) and when I took in my documents they wouldn't accept the insurance. It stated on the paperwork (but, alas, not on the certificate) that it is legal for this vehicle to be driven "by any other person for travel to and from a place of business" which I thought covered me as she is a community nurse and I went with her (and drove) for the day. I pleaded guilty by mail and also sent a cover letter of clemency explaining this situation and that it was a misunderstanding and now I have received a summons to go to court with these documents (for them to consider clemency I presume). A long winded question I know, but has anybody been in this situation before and could advise me? I don't really want to incur court costs as well as a fine if they don't consider this acceptable. Thankyou. Thanks for your help. I'm a little confused with people recommending that I plead guilty... I already have via post as I mentioned. Also a little consfused with the guy who clearly does not know the definition of "clemency", you should purchase a dictionary. Thank you to the rest of you.
I was caught driving with NO LICENSE, NO INSURANCE and I was also DRUNK (reading 58 microgrammes of alcohol)? I am 21 and I went out with a friend in town for a drink. On our way home my friend realised that he parked his car in a disabled bay by accident. I very stupidly reversed the car into another bay whilst over the limit. Once the car was safely parked we waited in the vehicle to get a taxi home. A police officer came over to the car 10 minutes later and arrested me after making me take a breath test. I was due to go for my driving test the following Friday. I have tried to set up my own business for the last 8 months and have spent every penny trying to get this off the ground and pass my test. The police charged me on three counts: 1. Driving whilst 58 microgrammes over the limit (under twice over) 2. Driving with no License 3. Driving with no Insurance. I admited everything to the police as they made me watch on video everything I did. I really do not want to loose my license and I will do anything to pay the price. Can you advise/help me in any way please?
